Philysha C. Beneby is born and raised in Palm Beach County, FL. I am a trauma recovery consultant specializing in individual, couples, and family. I approach each of my clients with fresh eyes to develop customized, unique strategies. My trauma recovery consulting program helps individuals of all age groups and diverse backgrounds deal with trauma, guides them on healing wounds and returning to a fulfilling life.
I am a disabled navy combat veteran and a recovered trauma victim. I hold a Bachelor's in Psychology from University of Maryland University College and a Master's in Military and Trauma Psychology from American Military University, with certifications in clinical trauma family and addiction. A Graduate honor inductee of Pi Gamma Mu (International Honor Society in the Social Sciences), SALUTE (Veteran Honor Society), Honor Society, and the Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement (SCLA). I am also the secretary for the American Psychological Association (APA) Div20 Special Interest Group Coping, Resilience, & Successful Aging.
I worked as a peer specialist providing direct services to chronically homeless Palm Beach County, FL Residents. As a peer specialist, my work involved with members of all age groups in promoting, rebuilding, healing, and advocating for members of the homeless, veterans, disabled, men, women, children, and families of the community. Specifically aiding in completing activities of daily living, development, and implementation of coping skills, facilitate recovery plans, social integration, self-management of mental health and/or substance use disorders, accessing community supports, and promoting physical and psychological well-being and fostering hope, improved wellness, and long-term recovery. The Founder and Executive Director of Beneby Enterprises, LLC., which specializes in Diversity, Equality, Inclusion & Belonging and Trauma Consulting where I am a Diversity Consultant and a Trauma Recovery Coach. Future goals involve advancing trauma awareness, trauma informed care, trauma response, child rights, juvenile offender rights, and obtaining consultative status with the UN to offer diversity solutions and trauma care to underrepresented groups and populations worldwide. I advocate for the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)/NY, is a UN Women's Caucus member, and advancing trauma care awareness.
